This morning I pulled out my Nike’s and went for run, something I haven’t done in ages. It felt so good to actually DO one of the things that I keep saying “I will do” when I have the time. I will be honest, these last few months have felt very unproductive and uninspiring and I think many of you can agree that it’s not that easy to get out of this kind of rut. But it’s not impossible either. Sometimes all it takes is getting out of our unhealthy headspace and not overthinking everything to allow us to just go out and achieve our goals.
I think it’s no coincidence that this renewal of motivation falls right as 2016 is ending and 2017 is just about to begin. Some people scoff at the idea of New Years Resolutions, empty promises that are short lived and forgotten. Forget those cynics… how will you ever succeed if you set yourself up for failure. If there is anytime to start fresh it’s now with the start of a new year and one of the easiest ways to do that is to outline your goals and visions. Simple changes and goals that will help you become the person you want to be.
P.S. I also recommend writing them down somewhere because they’re almost become more of a reality when you can see them written out rather than jumbled up in your head.
Personally, I am writing my resolutions down at the beginning of my planner so I’ll have easy access to them, but I also wanted to share them here on my blog for my own accountability and also to serve as motivation or inspiration for your own resolutions as well. Without further ado, here we go…
- Focus on my blog more! In the coming year I want to dedicate more time to my interests in fashion, beauty, design and photo. I haven’t created any concrete steps that will help me get there yet, but I think those will be the key to becoming a more consistent blogger. I’ll try to keep notes along the way, and maybe later I’ll write a blogpost if anyone is interested in what I do to balance my blog, school and work.
- Get into shape! I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself the most healthy person when it comes to diet and exercise, but I’m determined to make a change. Working out and eating better not only changes how I look, but I also just feel better inside and out. And who doesn’t want to feel positive and productive! I just bought Kayla Itsine’s workout plan called Sweat with Kayla because I’ve heard good things from friends and I thought I would give it a shot.
- Be more organized and tidy! I’m looking at you sink full of unwashed dishes! In general, I just want to be better at keeping my home and workspace tidy and clean. Again, when I have a clean environment around me, I always feel more productive and I actually want to work and get things done. I think my first step is going to be doing a massive clear out in the next week or two, that way I can start fresh with a clean slate.
So far those are my top three resolutions! There are other small and big resolutions that I’ve been thinking over, but then this blogpost would never end! I think having three main goals for the year will help me find some structure and routine and from there, the little things will begin to fall into place. If 2016 has not been your year, which for most it hasn’t, don’t lose hope just yet! 2017 is a new year and new start… the possibilities are endless! Comment below with your resolutions, I’d love to hear what you all have planned for the New Year!
